NYC Honeymoon Hotel: The Algonquin
I’m heading to New York this week for my bi-annual sojourn to check out the latest registry goodies at the spring tableware market. I always love seeing the newest gems from the likes of Denby, Royal Doulton, Wedgwood, Portmerion, etc. This trip I’m extra-stoked because I’m staying for the first time at the historic Algonquin hotel. I have wanted to check this swank spot out for sometime, and one thing that I think makes it extra-sweet is the fact they have an in-house feline! The current Algonquin Cat is named Matilda and her presence at the hotel carries on a tradition that dates back to the late 1930s. Matilda is a lovely Ragdoll who had the run of the house and receives fan mail via post and her own email address (matildaalgonquincat@algonquinhotel.com).
While I love all kitties, I already have a soft spot for Matilda as she looks very much like my own Ragdoll, Angus (I think I’ll have to bring back an autographed photo of Matilda for him).
If you’re a cat lover and thinking of a Big Apple honeymoon I suggest booking the Friends of Matilda Hotel Deal at The Algonquin where you will find yourself welcomed with a personal note from Matilda! Click here to read more about The Algonquin.

I have a soft spot for historical buildings – something about them just seems so regal! How awesome is that to have a house cat? Your Angus looks so cuddly, I’m sure it won’t be too long before you fall in love with Matilda. It’ll be a touch of home away from home!
Can’t wait to read your follow-up blog about your stay. I’d love to stay at a hotel that has a house cat, unfortunately, Mark’s allergic to cats :(.
