More Cowbell, Babies!
“What’s up with the cowbells?,” I asked my husband the other night while watching the Canadian women glide to gold and silver in bobsled. It was not the first time I’d heard them clanging at the Vancouver games, so I knew there must be a story there. History has it that the tradition of ringing a cowbell originated in Switzerland when farmers would host ski races and their family would use their animals’ bells to cheer them on. Apparently they are now a tradition of the winter Olympics, used to cheer athletes at events both on and off the slopes. Just in case you want an official 2010 Olympic cowbell, you can grab one (cost, $40) at The Olympic Store. Better yet, I did a little more research on cowbells and there are actually cute wee ones out there you can grab as wedding favours. Find them at (where else?) cowbell.com!

Oh my gosh that would be TOO funny!!
I was wondering the same thing, “What’s with the cowbell?” Thanks for the little history lesson :). I wonder what it would be like to have your guests ringing cowbells instead of throwing rice or blowing bubbles…hehe.
