I had been looking for a way to get the information about our wedding out to our guests, and also get both sides of the family to know each other a little better before the wedding. Joseph and I thought a great way to do that would be with a wedding website that shares information about ourselves and about our families.

Elizabeth Arden's gorge 100th anniversary lipstick.
Did you know that Elizabeth Arden is celebrating 100 years in 2010? It all started in NYC in 1910 when Elizabeth (real name Florence Nightingale Graham) opened her first salon—it had a red door and was located on Fifth Avenue. From the salon and her treatments, came products and prestige. In 1930, Elizabeth introduced the renown Eight Hour Cream, an item that still flies off shelves today and something that no home should be without! To celebrate 100 years of beauty, Elizabeth Arden has launched a gorgeous limited edition anniversary lipstick in Red Door Red. This sheer ruby hue looks amazing on all skin tones and I’ve got five tubes here at my desk to give away to five of you lucky ladies. There’s a skill-testing question though. Ok, so I called this post the The DIY Birdcage Veil Experiment because I wasn’t really sure I could pull this off from the get-go. Before you read on, I will happily report that the experiment was a success, thanks in no small part to the multitude of DIY websites and forum posts that I found on the subject. I tried a few of these out (like this one from oncewed.com and this one from bridalguide.com) but in the end came up with my own simplified version of this project by Made by Amy, which I have laid out step by step for you here. As you can see, the supplies and steps in this project are minimal. I trimmed down the one by Amy because, well, with all the millions of things to plan for the wedding I figured the easier, the better! So here you go, my DIY Birdcage Veil… Read the rest of this entry »
