About the couple
Bride: Kelly Brett
Groom: Paul Bentham
How they met: Kelly and Paul met in 2008 while they were both at a training course in Squamish, B.C. Previous attempts by a co-worker to set them up had been derailed when Kelly broke her foot, forcing her to cancel the date. Kelly worked up the courage and sat next to Paul and after one look there were obvious sparks.
Engagement story: Paul planned an evening out in Vancouver in December of 2009, recreating their first date together to a T. After an Italian dinner and a cup of coffee they enjoyed live music, sipped wine, and enjoyed fabulous desserts at the Bacchus Lounge. What Kelly didn’t know was that Paul had reserved a suite upstairs and lit one hundred candles inside. At one point, Paul excused himself from the table. After he slipped off, the hotel concierge presented Kelly with an envelope containing a room key. Once inside the suite Kelly found four envelopes and inside each was a note and a photo that expressed a piece of Paul’s heart. In the fifth note Kelly was instructed to head to the sliding door where she found Paul down on one knee. Needless to say, she said yes!
