The Wedding Day
Wedding date: February 16, 2008
Guests: 185
Wedding theme: Dr. Zhivago-esque
Her best moment: “When I first saw Ryan at the altar. He was a little emotional and just so sweet—I was really proud to be marrying him.”
His best moment: “Seeing her approach the altar – she was a little nervous but smiling sweetly.”
What they would have done differently: “Nothing—the day was as magical as we could ever have imagined.”
Advice to others: Take the time to prioritize what is most important for you the day of - be it decor, food, music, wine, whatever. Then hire the very best expert in the area (that you can afford) and let them run with it. Good people make a great wedding! Giving experts the latitude to exercise their considerable creativity always results in a finish better than you could have imagined alone.
Wedding song: “Forever in Blue Jeans” by Neil Diamond. It has been “our song” almost since the beginning.
Fave wedding gift: Monogrammed linen hand towels.
Most unexpected moment: The arrival of the Toronto Fire Department.
Fave wedding detail: The speeches and decor.
What made her day: “The engraved charm of my grandparents that Ryan had made for me to pin to the inside of my dress. Unfortunately my grandfather passed away about ten days prior to the wedding, so this thoughtful gesture was especially meaningful.”
What made his day: “My bride, of course. But my best man’s speech brought the house down. Thanks Grae.”
Honeymoon: Morocco (Marrakesh, Fez and a safari through the Sahara).
The day in three words: Fun, warm and magical.
