About the Couple
Bride: Jane Odegard
Groom: Jason Beck
How they met: Jane had recently purchased a new home and was doing a final walk through the house. She noticed a door was sliding incorrectly so she called someone to fix it—which just happened to be Jason. Jason came over to fix the door, which led to a brief meeting between the two. Just days later, Jason called to ask her out.
Engagement story: Jane and Jason had been talking about marriage for a little while and Jane was curious about getting married at Butchart Gardens. “I went on their website and discovered that they only hold weddings from January to March so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to call to see if they had any openings left for 2010,” shares Jane. Jane then found out they had only two dates left, one being February 14. Little did Jane know Jason had already purchased a ring and was waiting for it to get sized before he proposed. As Jason waited he went to ask Jane’s parents for her hand in marriage and they granted him permission. “Both of our parents and us got together to discuss wedding arrangements before Jason even had the chance to propose,” explains Jane. Without Jane knowing, and with the wedding date fast approaching, Jason knew he couldn’t do anything extravagant but was able to get the ring two weeks earlier than promised. “On November 1, 2009 Jason waited for me to wake up but since I am a late sleeper he couldn’t wait any longer and came to wake me up with a cup of coffee. He then proposed and it was the perfect proposal!” exclaims Jane.
