The Wedding Day:
Wedding date: September 5, 2009
Theme/motif: 1930’s Hollywood glamour.
Guests: 90
Her best moment: “Getting ready with the girls and taking fun photos.”
His best moment: “The ceremony, saying the vows, and the first kiss.”
The day in three words: “Glam. Elegant. Nostalgic.”
First dance song: Jenn and Mike's dance to Louis Armstrong’s "La Vie en Rose," which perfectly fit their vintage big band theme.
Most unexpected moment: “The DJ gave a speech thanking Mike for serving with the Canadian Forces. He will be deployed to Afghanistan in winter 2010.”
Best surprise of the day: “Nothing caught us by surprise”
Jenn’s favourite wedding detail: “The fashion. I loved how our bridal party looked classy, and glamorous. I also loved how the colours worked together. Ivory, eggplant and black—everything popped in the photos! I really felt our outfits were fabulous and reiterated the 1930’s theme without looking like costumes.”
What made her day: The bride’s brother walked her down the aisle to "At Last" by the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
What made his day: “Being in the company of friends and family."
Honeymoon: The couple took a mini-moon to Niagara on the Lake. They are planning a month long trip to Italy, where Mike has family, for September 2010.
What they would have done differently: “We would have decorated the venue more elaborately to really draw attention to our vintage theme.”
Advice to other couples: “Have a blast planning and don’t worry about things that may go wrong.”
