About the Couple
Bride: Amy Ng
Groom: Edwin Poon
Occupations: Amy is an elementary school teacher and Edwin is a digital artist in the animation industry.
How they met: Through mutual friends. Amy was taking golf lessons with her sister-in-law, Teresa. It turned out Edwin was a good friend of Teresa's, and he just so happened to be at the golf course while they were having lessons. Every week after that, Edwin showed up at the golf course at the exact time as Amy's lessons. Nonetheless, his golf game never improved as he forgot one fundamental rule—keep your eyes on the ball! The rest is history.
Favourite date: “Riding our motorized scooters around town, then having a picnic by the beach.”
What attracted her to him: “His dimple when he smiled.”
What attracted him to her: “Her beauty.”
Engagement story: Six months before Amy and Edwin got engaged, they took a trip out to Gibsons, B.C. They decided to engrave their names on a wooden plank underneath a gazebo by the water. Amy thought to herself: this would be the perfect spot to get engaged, as it is so romantic. Well, apparently Edwin thought the same thing because a few months later they went back to Gibsons for a second time. Amy suggested going back to the gazebo to find their carved initials. Amy looked very hard, trying in vain to find their initials from their last trip. She felt despair when she couldn't find them, but when she turned around to leave she saw something even better than their initials on a wooden plank. Edwin was on bended knee, carefully holding up a beautiful ring (as he didn't want it to drop in the water), and he asked her to marry him! (And yes, they re-carved their initials there to mark this very special moment!)
Words they live by: "We come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly." – Sam Keen
