About the Couple
Bride: Jenny Gilbert
Groom: Lee Sheppard
How they met: The couple met in 2003 when Lee’s band was visiting Winnipeg to play at the Jazz Festival. “I was in Winnipeg attending university and three days later I came to visit Lee in Toronto and through our whirlwind courtship I made the decision to transfer to another university and stay in Toronto,” reminisces Jenny.
Engagement story: “Shortly after our six year anniversary it was Lee’s birthday,” explains Jenny. “When I woke up there were flowers on the kitchen table and I thought someone had bought them for Lee’s birthday. I looked at the card and it read ‘To Lee from Jenny?’ Confused by Lee’s strange humour I looked underneath the card and saw a ring, at which point Lee got down on one knee and proposed.”
