About the Couple
Bride: Jeannine Avelino
Groom: Nathan Fehr
How they met: “Nathan and I met online on a local discussion forum called Revscene. It was a fluke because I had started a random thread asking who liked Pearl Jam, my favourite band. Nathan was the first to reply and we had a great conversation on the forum, which led to us exchanging MSN contacts. He invited me out to his friend’s birthday at a club in downtown Vancouver. At the club, Nathan and I hit it off right away and quickly became official the day after,” Jeannine reminisces.
Engagement story: “In our first year together, we went to our first ever Pearl Jam concert. On September 25, 2009, Pearl Jam was back in Vancouver. We were 12th row centre on the floor and had the most amazing time! Without my knowledge, Nathan had planned to take me out for dinner in Yaletown and then walk around David Lam Park. Unfortunately, his plans kept falling through. We ended up on Granville Street, where the only restaurant open at that time was a little burger joint,” Jeannine remembers. “After we ate, we left the restaurant and walked around. I suggested that we go to the new Convention Centre. I showed him the sculpture that looks like a drop of water. We spent some time there and he mentioned that it’s been six years since we first saw Pearl Jam and that we were both wearing our T-shirts from that night. I said, ‘Yeah, and we’re still together.’ He replied, ‘Which brings me to my next point…’ He went down on one knee and proposed after I asked repeatedly if he was serious. I said yes!”
