Tall and Thin
You have: Long, lean limbs, small breasts and narrow hips and waist.
You want: Curves in all the right places.
Your best dress: This sleek dress by Reem Acra shows off your willowy physique, while pleated detail at the bust and waist create the illusion of curves.

i THINK ITS ESSENTIAL TO KEEP YOUR SHAPE IN MIND, AND ALSO NOT TO DIET BEFORE THE BIG DAY IT CHAMGES THINGS

I found this article fairly useless. There are WAY more shapes that these four. How about plus sized brides? Or large breasted brides with smaller frames? or broadshouldered tall girls?? Just to name a few others?? We're not all size 2......

When trying on dresses, take someone who will be honest with you if something just doesn't look right. Be realistic and really - it's a big beautiful white dress (usually) so it's gonna look fabulous!!!

I think if you are going to show pictures for the dresses that would be appropriate to a womens figure, the girls modelling the dresses should have that shape! Not the super skinny runway models who really don't have any shape! Show REAL women in the "shape enhancing" dresses!!!

@ Lesley

Apple shaped women ARE plus sized brides.

I have to disagree, plus sized women aren't always apple shaped. I am a plus sized person, and I do not have an apple shape, I have been told I have a pear shaped body. So, apple shaped people aren't always APPLE shapped.
I do agree with the comment on showing real people, not these little skinny people, who look like a size two. I tried on a dress today and it looked beautiful on me, and I am no size 2. So this article was useless to me also.

This article doesn't help at all. There are no references to the style names that are used in the wedding gown industry such as A line, princess gown, sheath dress. Which one is which? Please give more general examples instead of refering to specific designer's gowns.
When I walk into a bridal boutique, which style should I refer to for my "pear shape"?

im pear shaped as well. i was told by a few bridal consultants to do with a princess or a-line dress. i love the look of a mermaid dress but with my hips i could never full it off. i agree the best thing to do is bring someone who will be honest but not ruin the experience. and if your the one helping with the dress shopping and you see a dress you dont like, dont say its ugly or anything like that, try saying you know i bet the one with the beeded top would look amazing on you try that one on next. or something like that. no bride to be wants to hear that any wedding dress looks ugly on her because then it will be in her mind that a dress CAN look ugly. so dont do it. thanks :) haha sorry just had a bad experience thats all. good luck and congrats ladies!

What about short (petite) with full bust and fairly small frame?
