About the couple
Bride: Emily Wood
Groom: David Siddall
How they met: “We originally met in first-year university (though we were attending different schools). I was in a few classes with some friends of David, and they introduced us. We dated briefly, went our separate ways, and became reacquainted through Facebook, of all things. We spent a lot of time catching up, hanging out, watching movies, baking together, and then I was due to fly home to England for a few weeks. I spent the whole time thinking about David, and when I got back to Winnipeg we decided to give it another shot. We’ve been happily together ever since. Thank heavens for second chances,” Emily says with a smile.
Engagement story: “David often picks me up from work. One day, when we arrived home, he asked if I’d mind sitting in the car for a few minutes before coming in. I had no idea what was going on but, after awhile, he came back to get me. I opened up the door to our staircase to see little white tea lights and rose petals lining the stairs. He’d made a playlist of songs that meant a lot to us—‘One Day Like This’ by Elbow will forever remind me of that magical moment. At the top of the stairs there were rose petals leading the way into the bedroom where he’d spelled ‘I LOVE YOU’ in candles on the floor. This is where he got down on one knee, uttered the most beautiful words that left me sobbing my heart out, and asked me to marry him. It was the most beautiful moment of my life. Afterwards, we headed straight out to see a Franz Ferdinand concert for our first night as an engaged couple,” shares Emily.

I consider myself very, very fortunate to have Emily as a daughter. Since December, I consider myself very fortunate to have David as a son.
They were made for each other and I have no doubt that they will make each other happy for the rest of their lives.
Love conquers all!
