Choosing a location for your destination wedding is the first thing to do once you’ve figured out that you want to have a wedding abroad. But with all the amazing places around the world it may be difficult to commit to a wedding location. Luckily, we’ve put together a list of the most popular (and stunning, of course!) places to tie the knot.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
What makes it great: White, pristine beaches and turquoise water makes Punta Cana a reliable and popular wedding destination. This is an ideal location if you’re planning a relaxed, tropical wedding. Punta Cana welcomes guests of all ages so your tiny tots and grandparents are sure to have a great time, too!
What you should know: All necessary documents, such as birth certificate photocopies and a sworn statement that you’re not already married, must be legalized and translated into Spanish by the Dominican Consulate in your country of residence before departure.
Where to stay: Hotel Majestic Colonial Punta Cana (majestic-resorts.com). When booking a wedding package you’ll stay in your choice of either their magnificent gazebo or private suite, where you’ll receive a couple’s massage, romantic breakfast and not one but two bottles of champagne during your stay! As for the special day, they’ll have the cake, bouquets and marriage certificates covered, so you can enjoy your day stress-free.

Coming from Canada we kept our wedding local and decided on Tofino's amazing Wickaninnish Inn. We had a beautiful private beach for our ceremoney and rustic beach gourmet bbq and it was absolutey perfect. The special events team out did themselves and every detail was seamlessly excuted, we would not have changed a single thing.

My fiance resides in France and I live in Canada. I'm wondering if the residency requirement is a necessity for both the bride and the groom. Is there a website that I can confirm this? My fiance has looked on the french government website and cannot locate this information.
