About the Couple
Bride: Alexandra Leversedge
Groom: David Brault
Occupations: Alexandra is a master’s student and David is a doctor.
How they met: Alexandra and David met at the University of Ottawa while Alexandra was still an undergraduate student and David was a medical student.
Favourite date: A sunset dinner of pizza and a bottle of wine while sitting on a seaside lookout in Cinque Terre, Italy.
What attracted her to him: His intelligence.
What attracted him to her: “Her big blue eyes. I can still vividly remember her walking across the street in her bright blue coat that matched her eyes. I was smitten from that moment on. It helped that I later learned she is just as smart, funny and generous as she is beautiful,” says David.
Engagement story: David had planned a treasure hunt surprise but unfortunately Alexandra arrived early for their casual dinner date and almost ruined his entire plan. After some quick thinking and a little white lie David sent Alexandra for wine, giving him a small window of time to get everything set up. When Alexandra returned, she was greeted with a ring-sized box with a chocolate inside and a map to the next location. At three subsequent locations (all of which held meaning in their relationship) Alexandra was met with another box and another card. David waited for her with flowers and the ring at the final location, which was the restaurant where they had their first date. David dropped to one knee on the very spot where they had met that night and Alexandra managed to stammer out a tear-choked, “yes.” The restaurant was then kind enough to invite them in for a champagne toast. They later held their rehearsal dinner at the same restaurant.
Words they live by: “Live as if you are to die tomorrow. Learn as if you are to live forever.” – Gandhi
