About the Couple
Bride: Jasmine Brooks
Groom: David Almeida
How they met: “David was a medical student and he was doing a research study that involved eyes. A mutual friend asked me to volunteer as a ‘healthy participant’ and I went since it was nearby. We met and he spent about half an hour taking photos of the insides of my eyes. Later, he sent me a message saying that my eyes had captured more than his imaging device. Then he asked me out on a date! We went on our first date a few days later and have been inseparable ever since,” Jasmine reminisces.
Engagement Story: “For our two-year anniversary, David surprised me with a weekend trip to New York City,” Jasmine shares. “Once we got there, he suggested that we take in the view of the city from the top of Rockefeller Centre. We went up to the top and as I was standing there looking at the view, I heard him say, ‘Of all the people down there…’ Thinking he was going to say some sort of medical statistic, I turned around—only to find him down on one knee, holding out a beautiful solitaire engagement ring. He continued, ‘Of all the people down there, I only want to spend all my days with you!’ Through my tears of joy, I somehow found the word, ‘Yes!’ and all the onlookers clapped. We enjoyed a meal at The Four Seasons Restaurant that night, where we were surprised with a mountain of cotton candy to celebrate the occasion!”
