How they met: At a friend’s party at C Lounge in Toronto on August 4th, 2007.
Engagement Story: “I had an engagement ring custom-made by Birks. The main diamond size is 0.73 carats surrounded by a band of smaller diamonds on either side,” Elton shares. “I was planning on proposing to Carmen during our trip to Oahu, Hawaii in mid-November 2008. Before we went, we made reservations with a local Hawaiian photographer to take some photos of us. The date of the photo session was the day after we arrived, so my plan was to make it an engagement session. Because of this, I only had one day to propose. My initial idea was to propose on the beach after we checked into our hotel across from Waikiki Beach. Unfortunately, we landed late and got to the hotel at 8 p.m. By that time, the beach was pitch black. Since both of us were very tired from our flight, I decided to propose to her in the hotel room. It was funny because on the plane to Hawaii, Carmen actually joked that her finger was missing a ring. She described the ring she wanted and it was exactly how I had it made!” he laughs.
