About the Couple
Bride: Jaime Messina
Groom: Ben Bergen
How they met: Jaime is a flight attendant, who worked with Ben’s sister. During a trip to Calgary, she needed a place to stay and, luckily, Ben’s sister said she could stay with her at Ben’s place. They met over the course of her stay and continued to keep in contact, and their beautiful relationship blossomed from there.
Engagement story: “Ben and I decided to go to Punta Cana for a Christmas gift to each other. On the second last day, Ben was acting really weird and I couldn’t figure out why. That night, he booked us a romantic dinner at one of the restaurants on the resort. Later, Ben asked me if I’d like to go for a stroll on the beach. We walked, talked, laughed and goofed around in the water and then all of a sudden, in a secluded spot, Ben took my hands. He faced me, told me how incredible I was, how happy I made him, and how thrilled he was that I had come into his life. He told me he couldn’t imagine his life without me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Then he knelt down on one knee, looked at me with nervous and anxious eyes, called me by my full name and asked me if I’d marry him! I was crying and thrilled and screamed, ‘Yes!’ and we held each other tight. It was perfect,” gushes Jaime.
