How they met: “I was in my second year of med school and my friend Sonia and I were thinking about going to the med-law mixer on campus. We were both getting lazy and tired and didn’t want to go through the trouble of getting ready to go out. We had almost come to the decision of staying in when I said ‘No, we have to go! What if I was supposed to meet my future husband tonight?’ So we went and I met Ger. We talked all night, he asked for my number and called me the next day. The rest is history! He told me later that he didn’t remember my name the night we met and had saved my number in his phone under ‘b.’ Oh well, as long as he remembers my name now,” Carrie giggles.
Engagement story: “We were visiting Ger’s family in Hungary and I was pretty sure he was going to propose while we were there. So, each day, I waited patiently for it and each day it didn’t happen. Finally, it was the day before we were leaving for Croatia and he hadn’t done it! I finally blurted out, ‘I can’t believe you’re not going to propose in Hungary! We were supposed to celebrate with your Grandma here!’ To which he just shrugged. Then, literally a minute later, we were behind a statue in the middle of the square and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! If only I had kept my big mouth shut a couple of minutes longer,” Carrie says.
