About the Couple
Bride: Roisin McGartland
Groom: Mark Lachapelle
How they met: After being introduced at a barbecue, the two hit it off.
Engagement story: “Mark and I were living and working in Europe, but his job brought him back to Canada and he asked me to come with him,” Roisin says. “While returning on a short trip to look for a house, we arranged to meet his parents and my parents for dinner. Nearing the end of our meal, my dad went to the washroom (usually his way of sneaking off to pay the bill) and Mark followed him. I thought they were off ‘discussing’ the bill. When they came back, the bill still had not been paid, but I thought nothing of it. The next morning we got up to go and see our new house, but before meeting our parents, Mark popped the question! Of course I said yes! When we met up with our parents, they were all beaming! It turns out Mark followed my father to the washroom to ask for my hand.”
