About the Couple
Bride: Karla Jean Gallant-Savone
Groom: Leonardo Gabriel Savone
Occupations: They are both teachers.
How they met: Karla and Leo were both attending teachers’ college at the University of Ottawa, so they ran in the same circles, but they didn’t actually meet until later in the year. One night out at a pub, their good friend introduced them, and they hit it off right away.
Fave date: Skating! Their first date was along the Rideau Canal with hot chocolates in hand. It was perfect.
What attracted her to him: Leo’s handsome good looks, especially his irresistible dimples, his childlike humour and his kindness.
What attracted him to her: Karla was tall and gorgeous with beautiful green eyes. When they first met Karla immediately put Leo at ease with her calm friendliness.
Engagement story: Leo had been waiting for it to get cold enough to go skating so he could recreate their first date, but the weather was not co-operating. After holding on to the ring for a few weeks, Leo grew impatient. Leo could not keep it a secret any longer so one Saturday in late November; he suggested a walk along the lake. On a pier with their feet dangling, he told Karla how much he loved her and popped the question.
Words they live by: Love is in the small stuff.
