Oddly enough I did this 1.5 years ago at my wedding! I had separate pieces though - skirt, boned top and jacket - so I could use the pieces again separately. Glad to see I was ahead of my time! :)

Actually, I would think more in terms of "What's old is new again" and I remember there was a bride, I think in the book Vera Wang on Weddings (published in the 1990s) with a bride in a miniskirt.
I think it's gutsy since the bride had better have good legs to pull it off, even if I've seen it in photos more recently. One should have the confidence to pull off the look and not look uncomfortable.
