How they met: “We met through a mutual friend—Hayden saw a photo of me and knew that he had to talk to me. We are both from Red Deer, but we were living in Calgary at the time. Not only were we from the same small town, but we also ended up living three blocks from each other in Calgary. We were friends for about a year before we started dating and it was pretty obvious from the start that we would be together for a very long time,” Sarah shares.
Engagement story: “We went to Vancouver for a U2 concert in October 2009,” Sarah recalls. “Hayden surprised me one night with a limo ride around the city with a scenic stop in Stanley Park. I thought it was weird that he wanted to stop and get out because it was raining. He popped the question overlooking the Vancouver Harbour—it was pretty surreal. He then took me up the gondola at Grouse Mountain and we had a beautiful dinner at The Observatory. I felt like I was on a first date. We were both nervous yet extremely excited!”
