About the Couple
Bride: Brett Ketchen
Groom: Ryan Both
Occupations: Brett and Ryan are both teachers.
How they met: They met in high school.
Fave date: Their first date almost 10 years ago. They went for dinner and a movie.
What attracted her to him: Ryan’s gentle nature and his athleticism. He’s also tall, dark and handsome.
What attracted him to her: Brett’s beautiful smile and nice legs.
Engagement story: It was their eight-year anniversary and Ryan took Brett out for dinner at Hy’s Steakhouse in Winnipeg. Brett did not have a clue Ryan was proposing since she was very pre-occupied with her sister’s wedding social that had occurred a few days prior. “Near the end of dinner Ryan started saying all of these really nice things. Telling me how wonderful I am, how lucky he is to have me—just a ton of compliments to say the least. He carried on for quite some time until I finally said, ‘my gosh Ry, you might as well just pull out the ring and propose already.’ He looked at me nonchalantly, shrugged his shoulders and simply said ‘I suppose I should.’ He fiddled around in his pocket for a brief moment and at that point I was thinking he was playing a cruel joke. I’m sure the look on my face was not a pleasant one, as I did not find his joke very funny. He finally got the ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him. I was speechless for a few moments, then I started to cry; and, of course, said yes!”

Well I knew I was not going to miss this day. Although it was a short trip away from home in North Vancouver, it was worth every bit of stress I went through to orchestrate it. Thanks to great friends and family I managed to leave the children and dogs for the first time and for a 3 whole days! An absolutely outstanding weekend, thank you for sharing, I will treasure the memories.

What a fabulous wedding - we wouldn't have missed it for the world! For Ashleigh (age 6) & Jennifer (age 4) it was their first wedding ever and they danced and partied til after midnight! (Brett, Jen thinks you are a true princess!) How did my adorable little flower girl (circa 1988) turn into such a stunning bride so quickly?! Thank you for including our family in your special day - we were honoured to attend. Wish we lived closer - love you lots. Ian, Kathy, Ashleigh & Jen
