Groom: Matthew James Burns
Occupations: Colleen is a district sales manager and Matthew is a manager.
How they met: At Lucky’s Patio in Calgary (during the Red Mile). Matt was an Oilers Fan and Colleen (a Flames fan) was teasing him.
Fave date: 07/07/07
What attracted her to him: Matt is Colleen’s dream. Tall, dark, handsome, charming, and kind. But handsome was the first.
What attracted him to her: Colleen’s beautiful eyes, easy laugh and charming wit.
Engagement story: They were traveling through Europe; they had been away for two weeks and seen many beautiful, romantic spots (Eiffel tower, London Eye, Louvre) but they hadn’t ever had the “perfect moment”. Matt knew he could not go home unengaged as he had already asked Colleen’s dad for her hand, and would get all kinds of heat! On their second to last night of holidays in Nice, France (after three weeks of packing around a ring), while on a walk along the beach, with the Mediterranean crashing on the shore, Matt got down on his knee, and Colleen wholeheartedly accepted.
