About the Couple:
Bride: Lauren Gutjahr
Groom: Trevor Plett
Occupations: Lauren is a special education assistant, and Trevor is an electrical technologist.
How they met: Trevor and Lauren both played basketball at Pacific Academy. Lauren was quick to notice the star player on the boys’ team. She made it her mission to date him. Finally, after six months of hanging out, Trevor asked Lauren if she’d like to ‘give it a shot?'”
First thing that attracted her to him: “That he was so good at basketball.”
First thing that attracted him to her: “Her persistence and athleticism.”
Engagement Story: Trevor proposed to Lauren on their third anniversary, August 12, 2008. He surprised her with a trip to Whistler, where they rode a gondola to the mountaintop. After hiking for an hour, they stopped for a snack. Trevor was complaining about the cloudy sky because he wanted everything to be perfect when he finally proposed. Lauren says, “All of the sudden Trevor was down on one knee with the ring box.” After the proposal they had a nice dinner in Whistler.
Their philosophy on life: “Our success is not dependent on what we have, but rather who we are, and the friends we keep.”
