Just like colours, fonts also have hidden meanings. For example, choosing a script-like font for your invitations could suggest that you’re a romantic at heart and are looking for a classic celebration, whereas a thinner, non-script type could mean you’re setting the mood for a more modern party. To help us decode the meaning of each type, we asked three font pros—Corina Van Sluytman from Bella Invites (bellainvites.com), Barbara Kua from Barbara Kua Calligraphy (barbarakua.com) and Shelley Weir from Sweet Peony Press (sweetpeonypress.com)—to give us their input. Here’s what they had to divulge:
Invitation from Ceci New York (cecinewyork.com).
Corina says: “This font is perfect for a sophisticated and romantic bride. The swirly and girly, handwritten look gives it a vintage feel. I definitely see this being used at a formal wedding with lots of romantic details.”
Barbara says: “This type is for the bride who wants a traditional ceremony followed by a grand reception in an elegant ballroom. If you love extravagance and are a true romantic, this is for you.”
Shelley says: “The type of bride who opts for this font loves wedding planning, fusses over the details and likes classic romantic styles. This is definitely for a more formal celebration.”
