BRIDAL GOWN
1985: Giant bell skirt, poufy sleeves, lace covering your collarbone and throat, with every inch drowning in beadwork—think wedding by way of Joan Collins on the Dynasty TV show. Brides paid an average of $700 for their traditional white gown.

VEIL
1985: Hats were the big news, everything from a tiny oval headpiece to a wide-brimmed picture chapeau, with the hottest look being a small, shallow crown hat with a slim, upturned brim, worn on the head at an angle.

BRIDESMAID DRESSES
1985: Less elaborate versions of the bridal gown, but still poufy and dripping in beads. Hot colours were burgundy, dusty rose and teal.

GROOM'S GEAR
1985: He wore a tuxedo jacket with narrow lapels, the shirt collar turned up and a coloured cummerbund to match the bridesmaids’ dress colour.
