About the Couple
Bride: Diane Ho
Groom: Fu Sing Mark
How they met: While attending McMaster University, the two spotted each other at a Halloween party. Diane explains, “Fu first noticed me dressed up as the girl from The Ring movie. It was the most unflattering impression! It was not until the beginning of the following semester that we started talking to each other at a mutual friend’s party.”
Engagement story: “We were sitting at the back of a restaurant in a room filled with helium balloons,” Diane notes. “Each balloon was filled with a memento of our relationship—the good, the bad, the beloved and the forgotten times. Throughout the night, Fu would make me pop a helium balloon and ask me to recall the memory associated with it. He managed to keep the balloon with the ring inside until the very end. He brought it over, got down on one knee and popped it using both his hands. Then, he opened his palm and asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ and you know what my answer was!”
