About the Couple
Bride: Sheri Grahame
Groom: Ken Lomas
Occupations: Sheri treats cancer patients as a radiation therapist and Ken is a financial adviser.
How they met: At a mutual friend’s Super Bowl party.
Favourite date: “On our first date we had lunch at Granville Island,” says Sheri. “We didn’t order our food for an hour as we couldn’t stop talking long enough to read the menu.”
What attracted her to him: His chivalry. “He found me a chair to sit on to watch the game at the party, and then offered to pour me a glass of wine. There was instant chemistry when our eyes first met that night, when I noticed him noticing me.”
What attracted him to her: "She was obviously intelligent and interesting; but more importantly, she was interested in the things I was interested in. I couldn’t believe that she was single."
Engagement story: Ken had mentioned to Sheri that he wanted to go back to Poets Cove Resort, where they spent a weekend a few months into dating, with the intention of proposing to her there. But he couldn’t wait, and ended up proposing very impromptu at Sheri’s place on bended knee. They then had their wedding at Poets Cove.
Words they live by: Embrace change. Want more out of life.
