About the Couple
Bride: Karine (Kat) Paradis
Groom: Joshua Blais
How they met: The couple met in college. They were both enrolled in the Primary Care Paramedic program. Karine was undergoing chemo treatments and fainted in Joshua’s arms.
Engagement story: “During the week of Mother’s Day, Josh sent a letter to my parents asking for their permission to propose. On that same weekend, Josh and I drove up for Mother’s Day. When we got to the house, my mom greeted us at the front door. Ten minutes after our arrival, my dad came into the kitchen and told us that he and my mom had received a letter. My dad shook Josh’s hand and said that they approved of his request. At first, I had no idea what they were talking about, but I clued in very quickly,” Karine reveals. “On Monday, when we got back into town, I bugged Josh to show me the ring and we started play fighting for the key to the lock box where the ring was hidden. He finally managed to run up the stairs with the ring and I decided to wait for the actual proposal. I yelled to him from our room that I was giving up. When Josh came back downstairs, he kneeled and proposed right then.”
