About the Couple
Bride: Kirsten Kulyk
Groom: Dave Lankester
How they met: The couple met while both working at the same company but didn’t officially get introduced until they played on the same foursome for a company golf tournament. “Our first date was a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert—I think we just fell head over heels for each other in a whirlwind sort of way and haven’t looked back since,” explains Kirsten.
Engagement story: “Dave and I got engaged on a trip to Vegas that we took with a bunch of friends in September of 2009. I’d been bugging him the night before that we should just hit up a wedding chapel and take the plunge and he kept saying no,” explains Kirsten. “Although I pouted a bit I was actually only being half-hearted because although I wanted to get married to Dave, I really wanted it to be a celebration with our friends and family instead of an elopement. As it turned out he proposed to me the very next night as we were giggling and goofing off in our hotel room. No helicopter rides or romantic restaurants—my friends call it the lazy proposal but it suited us perfectly, and obviously was an instant yes,” Kirsten recalls with a smile.
