About the Couple
Bride: Jennifer Hallett
Groom: Tyler Dankowich
How they met: Jennifer and Tyler met online after both tired of the more traditional means of meeting people. Jennifer decided to contact Tyler on Valentine’s Day; a day she personally refers to as “S.A.D.” or “Single Awareness Day.” After some conversation, they decided to meet in person over sushi and instantly hit it off.
Engagement story: Tyler arranged a romantic dinner out in celebration of Jennifer’s birthday. As Jennifer continues, “At the time I really needed some bedroom furniture and Tyler had mentioned that he wouldn’t be able to bring my gift to the restaurant because it was too big. I do remember whining to some girlfriends that if Tyler bought me a dresser for my birthday, I would probably lose it. In hindsight, the whole plan was brilliant because I didn’t expect to get a gift at dinner. We got to the restaurant and the evening was filled with great food, wine and conversation. As the dinner plates were cleared, Tyler asked me how I thought our relationship was going and the first thing I thought was that it was a weird question. But, being as clueless as I was, I responded by saying that I was thrilled and that I looked forward to taking the next step with him—moving in together. He said that he felt the same way and that’s when he reached into his jacket pocket. I started to giggle as he pulled out the box because I thought he was joking! In fact, I must have asked him if he was joking or if he was serious until he got down on one knee and asked me if I would be his wife. I was completely floored, speechless and couldn’t manage to say anything except, ‘Yes!’ Then came brief tears, until the waiter rushed over with champagne and we enjoyed the rest of the evening in bliss.”
