About the Couple
Bride: Lisa Harper-Poshni
Groom: Ali Poshni
Occupations: Lisa is a graphic designer and Ali is an electrician.
How they met: Lisa’s best friend introduced them after Lisa had a bad break up. They dated for a few weeks then broke up and two months later, they saw each other again at a dance club and ended dancing the night away together. They have never looked back!
Fave date: It was the first night Lisa’s best friend set them up. Ali was so nervous he didn’t know what to say. Lisa was wearing a red top and at some point during the night Ali attempted to fill up some silence by saying “your lipstick matches your top”. Lisa could tell by the look on his face, he was thinking “what did I just say!?” but Lisa thought it was the cutest thing!
What attracted her to him: Other than thinking how gorgeous Ali was, he is also an amazing dancer. Lisa can still remember the butterflies, when she saw him dancing for the first time.
What attracted him to her: The first time Ali saw her he just thought she was really beautiful. But, what really stood out about Lisa were her eyes.
Engagement story: It was Lisa’s 28th birthday and Ali had made plans to take her to the restaurant where they had their first date. As they ate dinner Lisa never thought anything out of the ordinary, then Ali took her hand after they ate and started telling her how much he loved her and how he could never live without her. Shortly after, Ali got down on one knee and asked Lisa to marry him. Lisa cried out “Yes!” and having him put that ring on her finger is one moment Lisa will never forget.
Words they live by: As you start worrying about bills and everyday life, sometimes you forget to appreciate each other. So Lisa and Ali have promised themselves to try their hardest and not let that happen. Lisa’s parents are still going strong after almost 40 years and they look to them as their inspiration.
