Things to Do
• Art enthusiasts will be happy to know gallery options abound in Boston. The Museum of Fine Arts (mfa.org), second in size only to New York’s Metropolitan Museum of art, has an extremely comprehensive collection of over 450,000 pieces from Egyptian art to contemporary masters. Plus it also boasts the largest Impressionist collection outside of France. Visit on Wednesday’s after 4 p.m. when the price of admission is a suggested donation only.
• Sports fans must take in a game at Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox. Even if baseball isn’t your favourite game, the fun is in the experience—eating hot dogs, drinking beer and cheering with arguably the most passionate baseball fans out there.
• Penguins, sea turtles and seals all have a home at the New England Aquarium (neaq.org). The four-story Giant Ocean Tank is a highlight, holding 20,000 gallons of water and more than 600 animals including Myrtle, a sea turtle that has lived in the aquarium since 1970.
• The world-famous Boston Symphony Orchestra, home to the Boston Pops, is a magical way to spend the evening, whether you opt to listen to the classical performance of the BSO or the Pops unique blend of arrangements and popular hits.
