About the Couple
Bride: Jessie Turner
Groom: Tyler Thiessen
How they met: The couple met while enrolled in the Graphic Design program at Red River College in 2003. Jessie lived next to Tyler’s friend in residence.
Engagement story: “I proposed on April Fool’s Day in 2009. It was a bit of an ongoing joke because we never really had an anniversary date,” explains Tyler. “I took her to Buccaino’s Cucina Italiana for dinner, which was the site of one of our first dates five years prior. When we got home I put on our favourite record and poured some wine and then we talked and talked. I gave her a gift, which was a travel journal wrapped in a vintage map of Europe and as she read the passage aloud, she found two tickets to Europe. I got down on one knee, took the ring out from under the couch where I had hidden it before dinner, and popped the question! Fourteen months later I think we all know how it turned out,” Tyler happily recalls.
