We were lucky enough to chat with famed romance writer Nora Roberts–who recently published her second installment of the Bride Quartet Series. As we talked about her latest books, Nora revealed to us the inspiration for her series, which was her youngest son’s wedding last June. While planning the family wedding she developed the idea of four childhood friends working together in the wedding industry. Nora not only let us in on some secrets about the future of the series (the second book in the series, Bed of Roses, has just been released!), she also let slip her top three wedding planning tips:
Let go of the stress. Wedding planning is full of hectic moments, but those moments are real and natural. Find the humour in these situations–whether there’s an unexpected blizzard on your wedding day or you suddenly aren’t getting along with your mother-in-law.
Choose what you love. Wedding planning may be more complicated than you originally envisioned. My new daughter-in-law didn’t know much about flowers, but with an artist’s eye she was able to pick out what she liked. It turned out beautifully.
Build the day around one strong element. Everything seems to build around the dress these days. The dress is the centrepiece. If you choose one element—the dress, the flowers, the cake—you can let it set the tone for the event, which will eliminate a lot of tough decisions.
