Your bridal handbag is usually teeny tiny, so choose purse—or travel—sized beauty items for touch-ups during the day. If you feel like treating yourself, pick up a few pretty, specialty items, like a rhinestone-encrusted compact or a lace-edged hanky to wipe away your tears of joy.
Be prepared for anything on the big day by stocking your clutch with these necessities.
- Long-wearing lipstick
- Pressed powder to help eliminate shine from your nose and forehead
- Cotton swabs moistened with makeup remover and wrapped in plastic
- Eyeshadow compact
- A small spritzer of your wedding day fragrance
- A pocket comb
- A wedding day first–aid kit. Have your maid of honour or your mother take charge of this project. Pack items in a decorated box or wicker basket and tuck it away in a back room at your reception.
- A comb, brush, hairspray, hairpins
- A pocket mirror
- Breath mints
- Bandages
- Medicines for headaches and upset stomach (if it's allergy season, consider including appropriate medication and decongestant)
- A sewing kit, with needles, thread, safety pins
- Anti-static spray
- Lint brush
- Spot remover
- Tissues
- Eye drops (and spare contact lenses for the bride or groom if either wears them)
- Spare nylons for the bride and attendants
- Travel iron or steamer for touch-ups to a wrinkled train
- Pens, pencils and a pad of writing paper for last-minute notes
- Miscellaneous tools for emergency repairs to decorations, such as scissors, tape, string, glue and a stapler
