Just like women’s skinny jeans, tuxedos are also taking a tapered turn. If you’re planning a chic wedding, suit your groom up in a stylish shorter-length coat fitted close to his body. Complete his slim silhouette with flat-front pants sans pleats or single pleat.
2. Earth Tones
Rich chocolate and espresso shades are making the rounds in tuxedo fashion. “Brown tuxedos are really coming on strong,” says Leonard Goldstein of Freeman Formalwear. Paired with pointed dark brown shoes, your groom can say “I do” in shades of warm cocoa. Earthy shades of crimson, cinnamon, scarlet, magenta and tan are also popping up in neckties and pocket squares.
3. Stripes
Get the groomsmen in line! Stripes are showing up on tuxedos in subtle tone-on-tone variations, like black-on-black, as well as gray and silver pinstripes. Bolder stripes, along with shadow stripes can be found on pocket squares and waist-length ties.
4. Vests
Vests are at the forefront of formalwear fashion. “Vests are a hugely popular choice with men right now, much more so than the traditional cummerbund,” says Sal Caira of Syd Silver. Black vests are excellent for a formal wedding, but mixing and matching neutrals with high-tone colours adds pizzazz and allows your groom to express his personal style.
5. Details
Wedding style is all about the details. Peak and notch lapels are the ultimate in elegance, and are celebrity favourites on the red carpet. Along with the two and three button coat, lay-down collared shirts with plain fronts are currently the way to go. Add a hint of colour to your man’s tuxedo with a pocket square for a final wedding-day touch.
