The trend in unique wedding registries could not have come at a better time. Most couples are getting married later in life and have lived outside of their parents’ homes. Twosomes have accumulated more items and require less everyday things and more specialty items. Here’s the lowdown on a few of our favourite, unique registries.
The Wine Establishment
The Wine Establishment offers a wide selection of accessories for wine aficionados. The options range from the basic corkscrew to the Mercedes version and from stemware to wine fridges and cellars. Even courses in wine appreciation are available to register for. Your guests can call (1-800-268-8418), go online (thewineestablishment.com) or visit the store to make any purchases.
Honeymoon Registry
Thankfully, companies like Flight Centre are offering an innovative way for brides and grooms to enjoy their honeymoon, by relieving some of the monetary stress with their travel gift registry service. Setup is simple. Arrangements can be made at any Flight Centre retailer, or by calling 1-877-GR8-TRIP. The couple prepares their travel plans and registry information. The store then supplies specific contact information to pass on to guests.
Guests can either go into the office or call and make their contributions. A gift voucher is available, with the amount indicated, that guests deliver on the wedding day. Each bride or groom is able to track the giving just like any other registry. Any amount given over the price of the trip is reimbursed back to the couple.
Home Building
Some homebuilders and developers have expanded their services to include a similar program. The Conservatory Group, with more than 50 years of experience in building luxury communities and 20 projects active in Toronto, offers a fantastic option for beefing up your new home.
Once you purchase a house or condo, you are automatically entered in their Dream Home Gift Registry, allowing guests to help you finance all the gorgeous upgrades you have picked. But it is not confined only to additions. Corey Libfeld, President of Customer Care and Director of the Home Décor Centre, says, "If you only decide on a few upgrades, or none at all, the money given can also go to the amount due on closing.
Guests give online at a secure site, and can print out a gift certificate to present to you on your wedding day. By entering a username and password, updates on the progress are easily noted. With nearly 5,000 combinations of options available, you can now add that hardwood flooring or fantastic kitchen island with granite counters you have always dreamed of. Check out their website at conservatorygroup.com for more details.

DON'T use flight centre registry. They make it almost impossible to get your money and they definitely do not have it ready in time to use for a honeymoon. I am still waiting for the money 3 weeks after the wedding and they can not give me a good explanation about why its not available. Overall just not a very good system and I definitely would not recommend it! It's been nothing but a headache!
