Update your registry with our top five electronic must-haves. By Teresa Morgado

It is becoming more and more common to see electronics on a couple’s registry list. It may have been avoided before because of the large price tags attached to these items, but they’re actually ideal for groups of friends to purchase together. Picking a store like Sears or the Bay lets you have one registry with both electronic and household items on it. This gives your guests the convenience of shopping in one place and having a wide range of products and prices to choose from. Here are some ideas of electronics you can register for.

  • Blu-ray Disc Player: Blu-ray discs allow you to watch all your favourite movies in high definition. They are the next generation of laser discs and are becoming increasingly popular. Because a Blu-ray disc can hold more information than a regular DVD, your viewing experience will be enhanced.
  • Digital Camera: Register for a camera that has both video and photo capabilities. You can get great shots of your wedding and take it along with you on your honeymoon. Choosing how many megapixels you want will be your biggest decision. The bigger you want your photos, the more megapixels you’ll need. For general photography, four to five megapixels is fine. But remember—the more megapixels a camera has, the higher its price tag will be.
  • Plasma Flat-Screen HDTV: Flat-screen TVs are so sleek they look good anywhere in the house. A Plasma TV also has better colour accuracy and saturation than a regular TV, and it tracks motion better, which means there’s little to no motion lag in fast-moving images. It will change your entire TV-watching experience!
  • Home Theatre Projector: Watch all your DVDs on the big screen. This projector is like having a theatre in your home. Just pop your regular DVDs into the projector and have it amplified onto a big screen. You’ll never want to watch a movie on your TV again.
  • iPod Dock: Listening to your iPod without headphones is now possible. Just plug it into the dock, and it will play your song list like a regular stereo.
