Snuggling up in bed together is that much sweeter when you have a luscious duvet to wrap yourselves in. Considered the ultimate in bedroom luxury, a duvet is technically a comforter filled with either synthetic stuffing or natural down feathers. The filling determines the overall warmth and weight of the duvet. While some might assume natural is always better, it’s really a matter of personal preference.
Here’s some points to keep in mind when shopping for a new duvet:
Au Natural
Natural fillings such as wool and down are better than their synthetic counterparts at absorbing excess moisture, so you won’t feel sweaty or clammy while you sleep. Goose down is considered superior to duck down, and is a great insulator that contributes to a light, long-lasting duvet.
Faux Fillers
Synthetic fillings such as polyester are better for allergy sufferers, especially if feathers make you sneeze. Also, synthetic duvets are low maintenance; they can be washed frequently in the washing machine, whereas most natural duvets are dry clean only.
