Deciding on the number of attendants depends on the type of wedding you are planning. If you are having an intimate wedding at a small venue, a gaggle of six bridesmaids will appear out of place.
The Main Maid
Once you choose your essential girls, how do you further narrow the field to select your maid of honour? This decision is tough and can cause sleepless nights. Never default to the "honour system"—choosing a person simply because you feel obligated, or because you were her top player. Most girls will understand the intricacies of your big day and won’t be hurt if they’re left out of your final decision. Get creative by incorporating them in other ways. Ask them to deliver a reading at your ceremony. At the reception, there’s room for special speeches, toasts and poems.
