To help you with your invitation shopping, we asked Christine Flynn, co-founder and creative director of Love the Card (lovethecard.com), to give us the scoop on what’s hot this year. Here are four major trends that Flynn is forecasting.
1. Postcard RSVPs. Since more and more brides are opting for destination weddings, this is a great way to incorporate their “far and away” theme into their stationery. It’s also a creative and easy way for guests to remember to respond.
2. Lattice Patterns. The stationery world tends to take its inspiration from other lifestyle areas such as fashion and interior design. Right now, the lattice pattern seen in the “Jessie” card (pictured left) is very big in interiors. Expect to see more patterns like this one.
3. Monograms. Last year monograms were a huge trend that will continue this year. You can expect to see more personalized monograms on everything from thank-you cards to save-the-dates.
4. Colours. Aubergine, yellow and grey are definitely the hottest hues for this season. Whether you mix and match them, or have them on their own, you can expect to see these shades everywhere.
