Living the true American dream, their reception was jam-packed with Fourth of July memorabilia. Everything from the menu, which included all-American items like hot dogs, hamburgers and corn on the cob, to having fireworks at the end of the reception, represented the Fourth of July.
Make It Your Own: Use your own cultural heritage as the main motif for your wedding day. For example, if your background is Italian try incorporating special Italian dishes into your menu. Or, if you grew up with Chinese influences, try and use their traditions on your W-day, such as a tea ceremony.

Celebrity Inspiration: When Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay said “I do” to actor Peter Hermann on August 28, 2004, she looked like a princess with a pretty chignon adorned in roses and gardenias—the same blossoms used in her bouquet.
Make It Your Own: Don’t be afraid to match. Keep your flowers consistent by ensuring that you use the same blossoms in your centrepieces, boutonnières, corsages and bridesmaids’ bouquets.
Idea: Icing on the Cake
Celebrity Inspiration: Although they’ve been married for eight years, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas’ wedding cake is still memorable. Designed by renowned cake designer Sylvia Weinstock, the happy couple’s confection was literally four-feet high and covered in thousands of edible sugar flowers. Make It Your Own: If you’re a huge sweet lover, feel free to splurge on your wedding cake—design-wise that is. To save money, have your cake designer construct an extravagant and gorgeous towering fake cake with slabs on the side for guests to enjoy.
