Spruce up your wedding celebration with these five fresh ideas in mind. By Roseanne Dela Rosa
There’s something about spring weddings that’s so rejuvenating and unique. Perhaps it’s the change in weather or the way everything (from the trees to the flowers) looks so alive and fresh. Whatever the cause, whether you’re planning a spring-inspired wedding this year (or during another time of the year) here are five ideas and themes to keep in mind.
Butterflies
These fluttery creatures are everywhere this season. Consider incorporating them into your stationery. Or, if you’ve got a whimsical confection in mind, think about accenting your cake with them.
Cherry Blossoms
These flowers are excellent representatives of spring due to their short period of availability during the year. If you’re looking to add these gorgeous blooms to your celebration, custom-designed edible favours like cupcakes or cookies are one great way. Or, if you can get your hands on a small cherry blossom tree, consider decorating your reception hall and using it as a wishing tree in lieu of a guest book.
Citrus Hues
Nothing says spring more than hot pops of colours such as bright orange, lime green and cheery yellow. Don’t be afraid to mix and match all three hues together or use just one and accent everything from your bridesmaids’ dresses to your wedding linens in those shades.
Flowers
Surround your day with fragrant and stunning blooms. Since many flowers are in season during the springtime, don’t be afraid to mix and match your flowers. Go over-the-top with lavish floral centrepieces (similar to this delightful display, pictured left, from Vintage Design Company) and one-of-a-kind cascading bouquets.
Garden Venue
Take advantage of the beautiful weather during this season, and pick a garden location—even if it’s just for your ceremony. If the garden location doesn’t appeal to you or you’re worried about getting rained on, search for hotels with beautiful conservatories or indoor gardens.
