With an eco-couture collection on the market, Canadian designer Adele Wechsler has decided to lend a helping hand by suggesting green ideas for other parts of your wedding. Here are her thoughts on:
INVITATIONS
Use a company that will provide you with the option of recycled paper. You still have many options to choose from!
CATERING
Secure a caterer that uses organic, locally sourced ingredients. This also helps to support local farmers. If you can’t find an exclusively organic caterer, many local caterers will specifically accommodate your request for organic food.
FLOWERS
Use flowers that have been grown organically, and reuse flowers for the reception that have already been used during the ceremony. Or, put potted flowers on the table that can double as favours for your guests!
VENUE
Although it is ideal to choose a local venue, there will always be relatives and friends that will have to travel. Offset the carbon emissions from these journeys by purchasing carbon-offset credits.
HONEYMOON
Plan an exotic honeymoon with Natural Habitat Adventures, the first 100% carbon-neutral travel company, offering eco-travel options to places such as Africa and the Galapagos. You may also use NHA as a resource to offset emissions for your adventures to other destinations.
