With your wedding rapidly approaching, you may find yourself constantly tossing and turning. So, how do you shake off that feeling of anxiety? Here are three tips to consider in order for you to get a good night’s rest before the actual big day!
Hot Shower
Indulge in a late-night bath or shower and use soaps with calming scents like lavender. After a hot bath your body temperature should rise, signalling your brain that it is time for sleep. Note: be sure the temperature isn’t too hot, and enjoy your soak one to two hours prior to sleep.
Dark Atmosphere
Before you head to bed make sure that all lights are turned off—including the red light coming from your alarm clock (cover it with a small towel or turn the clock to face the wall). If you have light seeping through your door you might want to invest in a sleep mask. Turn off your radio and television, as noise can also be a major distraction.
No Snacking
Late-night snacking is common and usually hard to eliminate. If you feel hungry, turn to high-calcium and low-sugar foods like a glass of warm milk, a peanut butter sandwich, a banana, a low-fat yogourt or even a cup of hot decaffeinated chamomile tea. Watch your liquid intake a few hours before you sleep if you find yourself constantly getting up to go to the bathroom.
