Send the Perfect Thank-You

Want to show your guests how thankful you are for their generous gifts? Try sending them simple, yet chic thank-you cards. Here are Weddingbells's tips and tricks for sending the perfect thanks.

• Prior to your big day, start organizing a comprehensive list of all the items you’ve already received and from whom. To ensure that you don’t forget anybody, make sure that you automatically scribble down who gave what as soon as all the other gifts arrive. (Use our online guest list tool to track your thank yous.)
•  If you’re registered somewhere, do the easy thing and ask the company to print off a full list of every guest that has purchased something from your wish list. You’ll save more time and you can easily add anybody who didn’t get you a gift from your registry.

• Begin writing your thank-you notes the minute the gifts start rolling in. This way when you get back from your honeymoon, you won’t have the gruelling task of writing to hundreds of people.
• Make the notes personal by thanking them for specific things (note: this is when that list comes in handy). Guests will feel more appreciated that you took the time to sit down and thank them for that china set or that espresso machine they bought you.
• If you don’t have the time to write personalized thank-you cards, then create a standard greeting. You can kill two birds with one stone by getting both your formal invites and thank-you cards done at once.
• Don’t wait until months later to send your thank-you cards. It’s common courtesy to send them no later than a month after your wedding.
