Should You Hire a Videographer?

5 things to consider when becoming a video star on your wedding day.

Because of the special editing techniques, visual effects, and music added to enhance the scenes from your wedding, a video can require as much creativity from the producers after the wedding, as during the day of filming. Become familiar with the options available to you, from fancy titles to a whole story line interwoven throughout scenes of your day. Many videographers offer various packages with prices that reflect the amount of work added to the original, edited footage.

Here are 5 things to consider before the first take:

  1. How many hours it will take to get enough film for a video. Be sure you are comfortable with the amount of time your videographer will be spending at your wedding.

  2. The number of people in the videographer’s crew, if any.

  3. Any special lighting needed. Some situations do not require special lighting, others do. Also consider that some wedding officiators will object to lights during the service; check first.

  4. How much of your own creative input will be allowed. Discuss this long before the wedding day.

  5. Will you have to act? Some moments may call for a little acting, much as you would pose for your wedding photographer. Usually a mixture of acting and candid moments is strived for.
