The long days of summer, beautiful weather and easy living make it the perfect time of year to say “I do.” No doubt your gown for your summer affair is probably a slinky strapless number, one that you want to look toned and taut in. Here are five tips to help you shape up and melt inches off those stubborn areas:
1. Jump-start your heart. Take your workout sessions to the next level by incorporating some heart pumpin’ cardio into your regular routine. Mia St. John, professional boxer and creator of the Million Dollar workout, recommends doing a cardio workout several times a week, either to warm up (10 to 15 minutes) or as your main workout for around 30 minutes. Jumping rope, or a brisk walk or run are sure-fire ways to get your heart rate up and drop pounds in a snap.
2. Sweat off the pounds. A good workout gets your heart pumping and your body perspiring. Sweating out toxins and losing retained water through perspiration is a great way to (temporarily) shed unwanted pounds during your busy planning schedule.
3. Nix the salt. Retaining water and bloating are the last things you want to worry about when it comes time to slip into your wedding dress. Cutting excess salt from your diet is a small change that can make a HUGE difference. Try snacking on or cooking with perishable foods, as they contain little salt as compared to canned and processed foods.
4. Good carb, bad carb. When you’re counting down the days and your schedule is filled with everything but spare time, eliminating white carbohydrates and adding more fibrous carbs can help keep your waistline intact. A healthy diet filled with protein-rich eggs, fish and poultry, will keep your body healthy and strong. Low-fat dairy, spinach, apples and assorted berries are other foods that will help keep you healthy while assisting you in your wedding-day shape up.
5. Flush it out. Water is an incredibly important tool when it comes to weight loss. Water is key in flushing out any excess toxins your body is hanging on to. Another excellent bonus is the hydration that water provides for your body and skin. Drink up and watch yourself glow from the inside out.
